S/Y Infinitea anchored off a Maldivian island
Teatime Adventures

Iruvai winds · reef snorkels · sandbank evenings

Four weeks.
The Maldives.
A sailboat.

A fifty-foot boat, two crew, up to eight people across four cabins. We move when the wind's good, anchor where the reef is good, and figure out dinner together.

Scroll

A month on the water, at the pace of the wind

Some days we cover sixty nautical miles between atolls. Some days we don't lift the anchor — there's a manta under the boat or the swell isn't worth it. Iruvai trade winds in winter, calmer drift sailing in the shoulder seasons. Starlink for the people you miss. A guitar that someone usually plays. You don't need to know how to sail — Joris and Olivia handle the boat.

A day on the boat

One main move and plenty of space around it.

Morning

Slow start, coffee on deck, a swim, then we set off. If the wind is right, we sail. If not, we still keep it easy and comfortable.

Midday

We anchor somewhere worth staying — snorkeling, paddleboarding, floating, or reading in the shade. If the tide allows, a sandbank walk.

Afternoon

More water time, another swim, or a short island stop. Some days a bit of fishing while underway or from the anchorage.

Evening

Sunset, dinner, and a calm night onboard. It can be quiet, social, or somewhere in between.

The crew onboard

Two crew, fluent in English, Danish and Dutch.

Joris

Joris

Captain

28, Dutch, mechanical engineer. Sailed most of his life, then made it a lifestyle after a trip to Greenland. Holds a 100-ton Yachtmaster licence and 8,000+ nautical miles. Navigates the reef-filled waters, plans the route to the weather, and — being good with his hands — fixes anything that breaks.

Olivia

First Officer

25, Danish, raised in England. Found sailing while solo travelling in French Polynesia, restored a boat with friends, then made sailing her priority. Holds a 30-ton Yachtmaster licence and 4,000+ nautical miles. Helps with sailing, docking and route planning, and is always up for a snorkel trip or a board game — keeping life onboard as hyggelig as possible.

Questions

Do I need sailing experience? +

No. Joris and Olivia handle the boat. If you want to learn, they will show you the ropes and let you take the helm — and if you just want to read on the bow, that works too.

Is this a shared trip or can I book privately? +

These departures are shared cabin trips — you join other like-minded travellers across four cabins. You can also coordinate shorter overlapping legs with us. (S/Y Infinitea is available for fully private charter separately.)

What about seasickness? +

The inner atolls are protected by surrounding reefs, so the water is often remarkably calm. Crossings between atolls can be breezy, and we plan routes to anchor in sheltered lagoons each night. Bring your preferred medication if you're prone to motion sickness.

Is there internet onboard? +

Yes — Starlink satellite internet for staying in touch, email and light remote work. It is not built for several people streaming HD video at once.

Will we visit local islands as well as remote spots? +

Both. We anchor at uninhabited sandbanks for private dinners and quiet snorkeling, and stop at local islands for authentic Maldivian culture and food.

Do you guarantee a fixed route? +

No. The captain adjusts the daily plan to real-time wind and sea. The prevailing seasonal winds shape whether we explore north or south.

How do I get there? +

Fly into Velana International Airport (MLE) in Malé, then a short 15–20 minute speedboat transfer to the marina. We help with the logistics.

How do payments and cabins work? +

Cabins are limited, so write to claim a spot with your dates and group. We confirm availability and exact pricing, and a deposit secures your place.
